Joseph Fazio
Joseph "Joe" Ray Fazio (born September 11, 1942 in Sydney , † August 2011 ) was an Australian rower . In 1968 he won an Olympic silver medal with the Australian eighth .
Athletic career
At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City , the Australian eighth competed in the line-up of Alfred Duval , Michael Morgan , Joseph Fazio, Peter Dickson , David Douglas , John Ranch , Gary Pearce , Robert Shirlaw and helmsman Alan Grover . The Australians took second place behind the Germany eight and ahead of the boat from Czechoslovakia. In the hope race, the Australians won ahead of the boat from the USSR. In the final, the Germans won with about a second ahead of the Australians, another second behind the eighth from the Soviet Union won the bronze medal.
