Joseph Kleitsch
Joseph Kleitsch (born June 6, 1882 in Banat , Hungary ; † November 16, 1931 in Santa Ana , California ) was an American painter from Austria-Hungary .
Kleitsch trained as a sign painter and was a self-taught painter. Around 1901 he went first to Germany and then to the United States. Here he was in Chicago around 1909 , then in California , and in 1920 he moved to Laguna Beach . Kleitsch was mainly active as a portrait and landscape painter and is counted among the early "California School of Impressionism".
