Joseph McCabe
Joseph Martin McCabe (born November 12, 1867 in Macclesfield , Cheshire ; † January 10, 1955 ) was initially a priest and later became a well-known British writer and free thinker who campaigned for atheism .
Joseph McCabe was ordained a priest in 1890. Increasingly disaffected by the experiences in his office, he finally turned away. In 1896 he finished his priesthood. Soon afterwards his writing career began, in which he criticized Catholicism with a skilful pen. He wrote a considerable number of books. At the end of his life he joined the National Secular Society .
