Joseph Murphy (clergyman)

Joseph Murphy (born August 16, 1968 in Cork , Ireland ) is an Irish clergyman and chief of protocol of the Vatican State Secretariat .

Life

Joseph Murphy received on 11 July 1993, the sacrament of Holy Orders . He was in the subject Catholic Theology doctorate . On October 1, 1997, Murphy joined the General Affairs Section of the Vatican Secretary of State. On September 15, 2006, he changed to the Section for Relations with States.

On March 22, 2018, Pope Francis appointed him Chief of Protocol of the Vatican State Secretariat.

Since January 15, 2008, Joseph Murphy has also been clergyman at the Associazione Santi Pietro e Paolo .
