Joseph Randall Moorman

Joseph Randall Moorman is an American medic . His specialty is cardiology .

The son of English professor Charles Wickliffe Moorman III received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi from the School of Medicine.

From July 1985 to August 1990 he was an assistant professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in the field of internal medicine. At the same time, he was doing research at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston in the Department of Molecular Physiology & Biophysics.

Since 1990 he has been a professor at the University of Virginia at Charlottesville and a practicing physician at the University Hospital.

In April 2014 he received the Edlich-Henderson Innovator of the Year Award from the University of Virginia. He developed a tool for the early detection of potentially fatal heart diseases in infants.
