The Reck are an old patrician family based in today's Lower Saxony , who were raised to imperial nobility in 1627 .

history

Originally based in Osterrode , the Reck patrician family settled in Goslar in the 16th century . On August 12, 1627, Emperor Ferdinand II elevated the lawyer of the imperial city of Goslar and envoy of the Prince of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel to the imperial court in Vienna, Johann Reck, confirming his patriciate membership in the imperial nobility and granted him privileges under imperial law, including the Palatinate . Emperor Charles VI. With a rescript of March 8, 1715, granted his grandchildren Johann Reck and Georg Eberhard Reck, both councilors of the King of Great Britain and Elector of Braunschweig-Lüneburg , the right not expressly mentioned in the nobility letter of 1627 to add the preposition "von" to the name Reck.

Initially based in Braunschweig and Hanover , two Baden (Protestant) and one Bavarian (Catholic) lines later emerged.

On November 11, 1882 granted the Grand Duke Friedrich I of the descendants of the 1797 deceased Johann Heinrich Carl von Reck, Councilor of Baden Margrave of Baden and Obervogt of Birkenfeld and Gernsbach , a civil increase, leaving the since baronial branch of the family in the Baden Adelsmatrikel record . In doing so, he legitimized the title of baron used by the family since the beginning of the 19th century with tolerance by the responsible ministry.

The poorly well off family provided numerous civil servants , diplomats , officers and some clergy.

There is no common descent with the von Reck auf Autenried or von der Recke families . The members of the last-named family can occasionally be found under the name variants of (der) Reck (e).
