Joseph von Groote

Joseph Cornelius Aloys Anton Balthasar von Groote (born January 18, 1791 in Cologne , † January 28, 1866 there ) was a German church administration lawyer and parliamentarian.

Life

Joseph von Groote studied law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . In 1809, like his brother Everhard von Groote, he became a member of the Lower Rhine Corpsland team , which later took the name Rhenania again. In 1820 he became consistorial assessor and in 1821 consistorial advisor in the church and school commission of the government in Cologne . After the re-establishment of the Archdiocese of Cologne , he was the first legal advisor and Chancellor of the Archdiocese from 1825 until his death in 1866.

Groote belonged to the First Chamber of the Prussian Landtag from 1849 to 1852 . From 1852 to 1861 he sat for the constituency Cologne 1 in the Prussian House of Representatives . From 1852 to 1859 he belonged to the Catholic faction and from 1860 to the center.
