Joshua Matthew Michael McDermitt (born June 4, 1978 in Phoenix , Arizona ) is an American actor and comedian .

Life

Josh McDermitt grew up in Phoenix as one of five children . The family later moved to Los Angeles . At the age of 14, he started working as a comedian for a local radio show, Tim & Willy . At this radio station he also worked as a producer until 2007.

After Josh McDermitt began his acting career in 2009 in the film Rehab for Rejects , he starred in the TV land series Retired at 35 between 2011 and 2012 . Since February 2014 he has played the role of Dr. Eugene Porter in The Walking Dead . During the fourth season his role was still part of the secondary cast, for the fifth it was expanded to a leading role. At the same time as his first appearances in The Walking Dead , McDermitt also made a two-part guest appearance on Mad Men .
