Joshua Ricketts Rowley

Sir Joshua Ricketts Rowley, 3rd Baronet ( 1790 - March 18, 1857 ) was a British Vice Admiral.

Joshua Ricketts Rowley was one of eleven children, five sons and six daughters, of the politician William Rowley, 2nd Baronet and his wife Susanna Edith Harland, a daughter of Admiral Sir Robert Harland, 1st Baronet .

Like many family members before him, Joshua Ricketts Rowley embarked on a career in the Royal Navy . In April 1808 he was promoted to lieutenant. On August 8, 1810, he was promoted to Commander. Then in September 1812 as captain. In April 1848 he was promoted to Rear Admiral of the Blue Flag, then at the end of 1850 to Rear Admiral of the White Flag, and in May 1853 to Rear Admiral of the Red Flag. In October 1855 he was finally appointed Vice Admiral of the Blue Flag.

When his father died in October 1832, he inherited his title of baronet , of Tendring Hall in the County of Suffolk. Since 1824 he was married to Charlotte Moseley. Since the marriage remained childless, his brother Robert Charles Rowley inherited his title and became 4th baronet.
