Josip Šimić (born September 16, 1977 in Zagreb ) is a former Croatian football player .

His football career began at ONS Hitrec-Kacijan. Via Slaven Belupo it then went to Dinamo Zagreb . The Croatian had his first international stint in Belgium in 2000 at Club Bruges . The striker then moved to Aris Saloniki in Greece . In 2003 the left-footed man went to the Far East to Ulsan Hyundai. In the 2005/06 season, Šimić played for FC Kärnten in Austria. From the summer of 2006, however, he no longer fit into the concept of the club and was finally without a club for several months until he signed a new contract with the Croatian first division club NK Varteks Varaždin in January 2007 .

Šimić played a total of seven times for the Croatian national football team in 1999 and 2000 .
