Josu Sarriegi Zumarraga (born January 19, 1979 in Lazkao , Spain ) is a former Spanish football player on the position of central defender .

Sarriegi began his career in 1994 with the Basque amateur club Lazkao , where he was under contract until 1998. After a stint at SD Beasain , for which he came on 28 missions and was one of the regular players, he moved to Deportivo Alavés in 1999 . There he played, apart from one season at SD Eibar , until 2006 and came to a total of 174 missions. After Sarriegi was initially only used in the reserve team of Alavés, he made the jump to the first team in January 2000 and also played in the UEFA Cup . In the 2006/07 season he played for Athletic Bilbao and then moved to the Greek club Panathinaikos Athens , where he was under contract until 2012.
