The Joug Stone (also called The Cairn Ryan Stane or Thieves' Stane - not to be confused with The Thieves ) is located in a cottage wall in the northwest of Cairnryan near the A77 on the east side of Loch Ryan north of Stranraer in Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland .

A Pictish monolith, "The Cairn Ryan Stane", later known as "The Jougs Stane", is now part of the gable wall between the old police station and the adjoining house.

The menhir ( English standing stone ) is about 2.2 m high and 0.5 m wide and protrudes about 0.4 m from the wall at its base, whereas it merges with the wall at the top. It is covered with a layer of lime. There are no yokes attached to it. In the region he is known as "Joug Stone" (Jochstein).

Nearby are the Long Tom on Milldown Hill and the Taxing Stone .
