Journal for General Philosophy of Science

The Journal for General Philosophy of Science / Zeitschrift für Allgemeine Wissenschaftstheorie is an English-language epistemological journal .

The journal was founded by Alwin Diemer , Lutz Geldsetzer and Gert König and was first published in 1970 under the name Zeitschrift für Allgemeine Wissenschaftstheorie / Journal for General Philosophy of Science by Franz Steiner Verlag in Wiesbaden. From 1990 the magazine was continued by Kluwer Academic Publishers (today: Springer) in Dordrecht under its current name. The journal has been published by Claus Beisbart ( University of Bern ), Helmut Pulte ( Ruhr University Bochum ) and Thomas Reydon ( Leibniz University Hanover ) since 2017 .

The journal publishes articles from all directions of epistemology and on all philosophical topics that are important for the natural sciences and humanities . In particular, it is a place for the publication of articles that are devoted to the understanding of science in general, the interaction and interdependencies of the natural and human sciences, and the history of the philosophy of science from antiquity to the 20th century.

The journal consists mostly of research articles. It also includes a discussion section on current topics, a section with conference, country and topic reports, and a review section.
