The Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery , abbreviated J. Cataract Refract. Surg. , is a scientific journal published by Elsevier-Verlag on behalf of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons . The journal was founded in 1975 under the name American Intra-Ocular Implant Society Newsletter , changed it to the American Intra-Ocular Implant Society Journal in 1976 and has been called the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery since 1986 . It appears twelve issues a year. Papers will be published that deal with the surgical treatment of cataracts .
