The Journal of Interdisciplinary Economics (JIE) is an economics journal originally published by AB Academic Publishers, Oxon , England . In July 2011, the journal was taken over by the renowned US publisher SAGE . The journal approaches topics in economics , econometrics , finance , law and economic sociology from an interdisciplinary perspective. The journal's editor-in-chief is Jayati Sarkar, professor at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research in Mumbai , India .
The journal is dedicated to expanding the usual boundaries of classic economic disciplines. Specifically, the aim is to question and challenge or loosen apparently self-evident background assumptions of conventional economic worldviews in order to contribute to the development of a discipline that is able to react appropriately to the current global economic and ecological challenges.
The Journal of Interdisciplinary Economics is listed in the international ABS Academic Journal Guides 2010 and 2015, the Handelsblatt VWL Ranking 2013 and the French AERES Ranking 2012.
