Joyce Sullivan (singer)
Joyce Anna Sullivan (born Solomon ; born July 4, 1929 in Toronto ; † May 14, 2017 ) was a Canadian singer ( mezzo-soprano ).
Sullivan studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto with Emmy Heim . From 1947 to 1954 she was a member and soloist of the Leslie Bell Singers and participated in various of their concerts and radio appearances (including a radio performance of Pergolesi's Stabat mater in 1951). In the 1950s, she appeared several times on the television program Showcase of the CBC on, 1957-1959 as a soloist with Robert Goulet . In the 1960s she was a soloist with the Carl Tapscott Singers with whom she recorded the LP Great Hymns of All Times . Other recordings were Folk Songs of Canada (1956, with Charles Jordan ) and The Songs of Joyce Sullivan (1965). Around 1970 she ended her active career as a singer.
