Ju-on: The Grudge (2002)

When the young geriatric nurse Rika Nishina is supposed to take care of a woman who is apparently alone in need of care, the situation in the house becomes increasingly puzzling. When the geriatric nurse goes to bed one night and is surprised by a young woman and her young child, she begins to investigate. It turns out that in the house, the husband Takeo Saeki cruelly killed his wife Kayako (nee Kawamata) and the family's black cat and then hid Kayako's body in the attic, wrapped in a plastic bag. The son Toshio was able to hide in a closet on the second floor of the house. The reason for the murder was that Takeo had found out that his wife Kayako did not love him at all, but a former fellow student named Tsuyoshi. It also turned out that Tsuyoshi is Toshio's father. In an old legend it is said that when a person dies of great resentment, the soul remains behind and will strive for redemption for all eternity. Anyone who enters this place is caught in the curse and is later dead or disappeared. As the geriatric nurse sees strange things happening around her more and more often, she realizes that she is ominously exposed to the curse. She is also killed at the end of the film, but by Takeo's ghost.

The film was a huge hit at the 2003 Fantasy Film Festival .

Ju-on: The Grudge 2 (2003)

When she's doing a documentary at the House of Curse, everything goes pretty smoothly. During the recordings on the stairs, on which the young geriatric nurse died, the sound engineer hears a high-pitched whistling sound in his ear, which comes from the actress' microphone. Yet they do not see or notice anything. Little by little, all crew members disappear except for the director and Kyoko, who despite many incidents gives birth to a healthy child - this one is Kayako ...
