Juan Carlos Familia-Castillo (born January 13, 2000 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch football player . The central defender with roots in the Dominican Republic is under contract with Chelsea FC in England and plays on loan in his country of birth for the second team at Ajax Amsterdam .
Career
society
Juan Familia-Castillo first played in his native Amsterdam for AVV Zeeburgia before he switched to the Ajax Amsterdam football school . In 2016, at the age of 16, he moved to the football school of Chelsea in England . Familia-Castillo played 46 competitive games for the Blues U18 and scored three goals. He won the 2017 cup and championship with the U18 team, and in 2018 Juan Familia-Castillo won the FA Youth Cup again with Chelsea. From 2017 he played for the U23 in the Premier League 2 and in the EFL Trophy . On August 30, 2019, Familia-Castillo returned to Ajax Amsterdam on loan. On September 13, 2019, he played for the first time for the reserve team in the second-highest Dutch division in the 3-2 defeat in the away game against BV De Graafschap . Juan Familia-Castillo fought for a regular place and was used in 23 games until the end of the season, which was due to the Corona crisis , in which he played through every game.
National team
Juan Familia-Castillo played eight games for the Dutch U15 national team from 2014 to 2015 . In the following years he played eleven times for the U16 team and then from 2016 to 2017 ten times for the U17 team . With this, Familia-Castillo took part in the 2017 U17 European Championship in Croatia , where the Dutch were eliminated in the quarter-finals against Germany . He then played five times for the U18 national team before Juan Familia-Castillo played nine games for the U19 team from 2018 to 2019 . He is currently a U20 international .
