Juan Francisco Costa

Juan Francisco Costa (born February 18, 1947 in Mercedes , Uruguay ) is a Uruguayan writer , essayist , critic and lecturer.

Costa, born in Mercedes in western Uruguay, but has lived in Montevideo since 1991 , completed an education in literature at the Instituto de Profesores Artigas (IPA), which he successfully completed in 1972. Later he worked at that institute as a lecturer and department head, led seminars for the Uruguayan Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) and also taught in the school sector at secondary level.

As part of his literary work, he published, among other publications, the three poetry works Antes de la luz , Claves sin historia and Versión de pájaros . Costa received various awards for his work. Among other things, he won first prize in the competition of UNESCO and the Uruguayan Ministry of Education and Culture in 1975 together with Washington Lockhart for their Vida y obra de María Eugenia Vaz Ferreira , published 20 years later by the Academia Nacional de Letras .
