Juan José de Mello

Juan José de Mello Piñeyro (born October 3, 1953 in Artigas ) is a Uruguayan singer.

Life

Juan José de Mello recorded a large number of records and CDs during his career. His most famous pieces include "Rueda de amigos", "Canto marcial de negros" and "Polka cabellera". He also composed music for plays and directed music videos by Uruguayan artists. Since 1996 he has been leading "El fogón de Juan José de Mello" at the Semana Criolla del Prado . Since 1997 he has been artistic advisor to the Ateneo de Montevideo . In 2002, according to other information already in 2000, de Mello settled in the USA and lived there until 2005. There he toured the country several times and performed in Manhattan at Satalla , New York Teatro Natives and Hostos College as well as in Philadelphia at the Philadelphia Museum of Art . He also performed in almost every major city in Uruguay, and he sang in Argentina and Brazil. He has made various television appearances on the channels Telemundo 47 , Univisión 41 , Azteca 39 , Time Warner 57 , LTV 66 and Canal de las Américas . With "Buenos días Nueva York" he also has his own show on Canal 35 in Manhattan and Canal 31 in Florida. He is also the director of Raíces Nativas in the states of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. De Mello is the elected president of the Red Cultural Mercosur and heads the Cooperativa Artística del Uruguay (CADELU).
