Juan Tamariz -Martel Negrón (born October 18, 1942 in Madrid ) is a Spanish magician and author .

Life

When Juan Tamariz was four years old, his parents took him to a theater, where he saw a magician for the first time. Since then, Juan Tamariz has been engaged in magic. A short time later he received a magic box, and later he discovered that there were also a large number of specialist books from which he learned.

After finishing school, he first studied physics, then turned to cinema. He studied at the Madrid Film School with José Luis García Sánchez and Miguel Hermoso . Since the school closed in 1970, he was unable to graduate. During this time, two short films by Juan Tamariz were made: Death (1967) and The Spirit (1969)

At the age of 16, Juan Tamariz became a member of the Spanish magic association Sociedad Española de Ilusionismo (SEI). Here he met his magician colleagues Juan Antón and Arturo de Ascanio , who shaped and influenced him.

From 1970, Juan Tamariz decided to present his magic in the close-up area only . In 1974 he offered Spanish television a magic show, which was initially rejected. It was only when he presented his art directly to the television editors that he was able to convince them of the effect of magic on television. A series of a few episodes was created, which received a good response, so that 13 more episodes were produced.

In 1970 Juan Tamariz took part in the World Magic Championships in Amsterdam and won second place in the close-up wizardry category. In 1973 he came back and won 1st place in the category of card magic in Paris .

Together with Juan Antón, Arturo de Ascanio, Ricardo Marré and others, Juan Tamariz founded the Escuela Mágica de Madrid in 1971 , which is considered a special school of thought for close-up and card magic in the world of magic .

Juan Tamariz is married and has four children.
