Juan Urango

Juan Urango (* 4. October 1980 in Montería , Colombia ) is a former Colombian boxer in the welterweight and two-time IBF world champion.

Professional career

In 2002 he made his professional debut with a classic knockout win . In April 2005 he won the Latino titles of the associations WBC and IBF.

At the end of June of the following year he unanimously defeated Naoufel Ben Rabeh on points and thus captured the vacant IBF World Championship title, which he lost in his first title defense against the unbeaten Briton Ricky Hatton (41-0-0) by technical knockout in round 7 .

On January 30th in 2009 Urango won the vacant IBF world championship belt again when he defeated the Cameroonian Herman Ngoudjo by a unanimous decision of the judges.

In March 2010 he lost the belt at the unification title to the US WBC title holder Devon Alexander by TKo in round 8.

In 2012 Urango completed his last two fights, each of which he won by classic knockout.
