Judson Dance Theater

The Judson Dance Theater was a collective of dancers, composers, and visual artists who performed at Judson Memorial Church in Greenwich Village , Manhattan , between 1962 and 1964 . The artists had experimental approaches in their practice and theory and refused to follow the rules of modern dance . Today you are seen as the avant-garde and as the founder of postmodern dance .

In 2018 MoMA New York dedicated a large-scale exhibition to the Judson Dance Theater with the title “Judson Dance Theater, The Work Is Never Done”.
