Judy Chan

Judy Chan (* 1978 in Hong Kong ) is a Chinese wine - entrepreneur and owner of a 200-hectare vineyard in the province of Shanxi , the Grace Vineyards.

Life

Judy Chan studied Psychology and Women's Studies and Organizational Studies at the University of Michigan . Chan initially worked for Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong. She took over the winery from her father Chun Keung Chan in 2002 at the age of 24. Although she had no oenological experience at all, she made Grace a world-famous winery and an outstanding address for Chinese wine .

The 200 hectare estate employs around 100 people and produces two million bottles of wine. Chan is now one of the well-known personalities in social life. She plans to develop further wineries in other regions.

Awards

  • Ernst & Young honored her in 2010 as “Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year” and “Entrepreneur of the Year 2010” for the China Hong Kong / Macau region.
  • In 2012 she was awarded the title “Asian Wine Personality of the Year” by the drinks business channel.
  • In 2013 Judy Chan was named as a "Young Global Leader" by the World Economic Forum and was named one of the 50 most influential people in the global wine industry in Decanter magazine.
  • In 2014 she took part in the first Decanter Shanghai Fine Wine Encounter with her wines.
