Juicy Lucy
Juicy Lucy was a British rock band in the early 1970s .
history
Born in California, Glenn Campbell spent almost a year looking for suitable musicians until, in October 1969, he was able to present the "tasty and juicy Rock'n Blues Band" (ROCK DREAMS) Juicy Lucy. The other band members were Chris Mercer and Neil Hubbard , who Campbell knew from his time at Misunderstood , the blues shouter Ray Owen , whom he met on a TV show, the drummer for the band Flirtations Pete Dobson and Keith Ellis from the avant-garde rockers Van der Graaf generator .
The very first single Who Do You Love , composed by Bo Diddley , became a bestseller and reached number 14 in the UK. Further good sales followed with the album Juicy Lucy and the single Pretty Woman .
In their programs, the musicians mixed their own fast-paced rock'n roll numbers with R&B classics such as Nadine ( Chuck Berry ), Built for Comfort ( Willie Dixon ) and modern songs by Frank Zappa ( Willie the Pimp ), Spirit ( Mr. Skin) ) and Gregg Allman ( Midnight Rider ).
