Wolfram Buchenberg (* 1962 in Engelbolz, Rettenberg , Oberallgäu district ) is a German composer .

Wolfram Buchenberg attended the music grammar school in Marktoberdorf from 1974 , where he gained formative choral experience as a member of the youth choir Ostallgäu under the direction of Arthur Groß.

From 1982 he studied school music at the University of Music and Theater in Munich . He passed the exam with distinction. He also completed his composition studies with Dieter Acker with distinction and was accepted into the master class.

Since 1988 he has been teaching at the University of Music and Theater in Munich.

In the 2010/2011 season, Wolfram Buchenberg worked closely as a composer for Hagen with the Hagen Philharmonic Orchestra . Through this collaboration, he composed in light land of heaven, a partial setting of Pharaoh Akhenaten sun hymn for choir, orchestra and mezzo-soprano, and the siebensätzige orchestral work Seven legends relating to tell the Ruhr and early July 2011, was released on CD. In 2012 another CD was released with a cappella choral works by Buchenberg, recorded by Cantabile Regensburg under the direction of Matthias Beckert on the Spektral label. In 2015 Buchenberg was honored with the Gerhard Maasz Prize.

Compositional creation

His compositional work includes works of various genres and styles, from solo to orchestral pieces, from musicals to masses. In a special way he feels connected to choral music. His motet I am the bread of life was also used for mass during Pope Benedict XVI 's visit to Germany . sung.
