Jule Stinkesocke (long form: Jules Blog - From the life of a stinky sock ) is a weblog written by Julia Gothe from Hamburg since 2009 . It reflects the author's everyday life and social role as a young woman with a disability . While the first articles were dominated by self-doubt and completely chaotic living conditions under the impression of her severe injuries, in recent years Gothe has increasingly dealt constructively with issues of disability policy and the goal of an inclusive society in addition to everyday occurrences .

The weblog, recommended by a psychotherapist in the hospital, originally aimed to support Gothes medical rehabilitation through intensified self-documentation of the long-term treatment progress and the low-threshold possibility of active internet-based contact with other people with and without disabilities. More than 1,500 visitors now access the website every day.

Gothe had an accident and was critically injured on the way to school in summer 2008 as a 15-year-old. She has been paraplegic ever since . The blog received a lot of attention when it was voted the best German blog 2012 by the Best-of-the-Blog Award (The BOBs) by Deutsche Welle . Shortly afterwards, Aktion Mensch named Gothe with its blog as the encourager of the year 2012 (together with Pozzo di Borgo , Raul Krauthausen , Samuel Koch and Ulla Schmidt ).

There were no new entries from September 27, 2015 up to and including August 20, 2017. The support page "eine-socke-fuer-dich.de" has been deleted in the meantime. The author previously reported on planned organized attacks on her private life. The blog has been continued again since August 21, 2017.

Naming

The author was given the name “stinky sock” during medical rehabilitation from the clinic staff, who initially insulted Gothe as “old stinky boots” because of their constant displeasure. In the further course of the encouraging dialogue, with a view to a ban on wearing boots in bed, the “stink boot” became the eponymous “stink sock” for her blog.
