Raul Aguayo-Krauthausen (born July 15, 1980 in Lima , Peru ) is a German activist living in Berlin who is committed to various social projects and has launched several projects himself. Krauthausen has osteogenesis imperfecta (colloquially "glass bones") and is dependent on a wheelchair . Since October 2015 he has hosted the talk show Krauthausen - Face to Face on Sport 1 .

In 2017 he was a member of the 16th Federal Assembly .

Life

Krauthausen studied social and business communication at the Berlin University of Arts and Design Thinking at the HPI School of Design Thinking and is also trained telephone counselors . He worked for the Berlin radio station Fritz and, together with his cousin, started a casting for a community service provider (called Die Suche nach dem SuperZivi ). Impressed by the response, both founded the non-profit association Sozialhelden , which sees itself as a think tank for social projects. The donation project Pfandtastisch help received the 2008 startsocial e. V. , 2010 the association started the wiki project Wheelmap.org . On the basis of the Creative Commons and Open Data project OpenStreetMap, users can check or enter the wheelchair accessibility of places and locations around the world. In addition to working in the association, he and another developer founded Selfpedia.de , a digital information service about life with disabilities, in 2013 . His social commitment and his media presence made him a point of contact for journalists when it comes to the concerns of people with disabilities and the issues of accessibility or inclusion .

One of the most recent projects of the social heroes is Leidmedien.de , a website for journalists who intend to focus on people with disabilities. This contains tips for reporting from a different perspective and without stereotypes .

In 2014, he designed 3D printable mini ramps that wheelchair users can use to improve the passability of curbs . He made the printing instructions available to the general public on his website. Krauthausen has moderated the talk show Challenge - Krauthausen face to face, on Sat.1 Gold since 2016 , which has been running as a repetition in Kabel 1's night program since 2019 .

In the episode "In institutions for people with disabilities - what happens when nobody is looking" of the investigative series Team Wallraff - Reporter undercover broadcast on February 20, 2017 , he was seen as an interviewee.
