Jules Poncelet

Jules Jean Pierre Joseph Poncelet (born May 19, 1869 in Offagne , Province of Luxembourg ; †  April 23, 1952 ibid) was a Belgian politician of the Catholic Party and, among other things, President of the Chamber of Deputies .

biography

After attending school, he studied law and graduated with the promotion to Doctor of Law from.

He began his political career in 1894 when he was elected a member of the Council of the Province of Luxembourg, where he represented the interests of the Catholic Party until 1912. In addition, between 1903 and 1934 he was also a member of the municipal council of his native Offagne and there in 1903 also a lay judge (alderman) .

After leaving the Provincial Council, he was elected a member of the Chamber of Deputies in 1912 and was a member of the Chamber of Deputies as a representative of the Catholic Party until 1939.

He was last President of the Chamber of Deputies from June 11, 1930 to June 23, 1936. For his political merits, Jules Poncelet was awarded the honorary title of Minister of State on September 23, 1932 alongside Xavier Neujean .
