Julià Andreu Vilanova
Julià Andreu Vilanova (* around 1530 in Vic ; † 1599 in Barcelona ) was a Catalan composer of the Renaissance and choirmaster of the Cathedral of Barcelona .
In 1551, Julià Andreu Vilanova temporarily replaced Joan Borgunyó , the singing master of the Barcelona Cathedral. Vilanova was supposed to be his student. Vilanova then probably worked from 1554 to 1561 as a singing master at the Cathedral of Vic and later as a cantor in various Barcelona churches. In 1584 he was then placed at Joan Borgunyó's 50th anniversary as an assistant to the side. When Borgunyó died in 1589, Julià Andreu Vilanova, who was himself at an advanced age, took over the job of singing master at the Cathedral of Barcelona. In 1593, Jaume Àngel Tàpies was himself an assistant at his side.
