As Julia noise is called that on 1 March 1999 by hydrophones in the Pacific Ocean has been registered and recorded. The place of origin is located in the area between Bransfieldstrasse and Cape Adare .

So far, the noise has only been registered once by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration with the help of the US Navy's Equatorial Pacific Ocean autonomous hydrophone array . The volume reached such a level that it was perceived by all sensors in the array across the entire Pacific. NOAA suspects the noise was caused by a large iceberg colliding with the ocean floor.
