Julia L. Shear

Julia L. Shear (* 1968 in Athens ) is an American classical archaeologist .

Julia Shear is the daughter of archaeologists T. Leslie Shear, Jr. (* 1938) and Ione Mylonas Shear (1936–2005). She studied Classical Archeology at Harvard University ( AB 1992 ) and at the University of Pennsylvania , where she received her PhD in 2001. From 2001 to 2005 she was a Fellow at Cambridge University , from 2005 to 2009 Lecturer at the University of Glasgow and from 2009 to 2013 she was a member of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens . Since 2009 she has been teaching at the Boğaziçi Üniversitesi in Istanbul .
