Julia Shaw (born July 28, 1965 in the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral ) is a British cyclist .
Shaw graduated from the University of Essex with a Masters in Physics . She then worked as a researcher in industry. During her school and university days, Shaw did not play any sport and only later got to triathlon through a work colleague .
It was only in her thirties she began to seriously participate in competitions in road cycling and has since won several national championships British and four times the British Best All-Rounder of women. She had her greatest international success at the age of 45 when she won the bronze medal in the 29 km time trial at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi .
