Julie Rogers (* 6. April 1943 in Bermondsey , London , as Julie Rolls ) is a British singer .
Life
Rogers began her career as a singer in Teddy Foster's orchestra . In 1964 she achieved a worldwide hit with the title The Wedding , an adaptation of the Argentine song La Novia . Rogers' The Wedding was a cover version of a single released by Anita Bryant in the United States in 1961 . It is estimated that between 12 and 15 million copies of the title have been sold to date. For Germany she recorded the song under the title Glocken der Liebe in German. The song The Wedding reached number 3 in Great Britain, number 10 in the USA, and number 16 in Germany. In Great Britain, with the follow-up single Like a Child , she once again jumped into the top 20 at number 20, in the USA the song only managed Reach place 67. On both recordings she was accompanied by the Johnny Arthey Orchestra.
