Julio Martínez Ramírez

Julio "Julito" Martínez Ramírez (* in Chambas , Ciego de Ávila province ) is a Cuban politician of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) . From December 2004 to October 2009 he was first secretary of the Union de Jóvenes Comunistas (UJC) youth association .

biography

After attending school, he graduated from the Polytechnic Economic Institute "Pablo Elvio Pérez Cabrera" in 1982. He then worked for the Directorate for Fisheries of the Camagüey Province and also completed a part-time course (Curso de trabajadores) in finance at the Universidad de Camagüey . In 1987 he resigned as Executive functionary in the organization of the Federación Estudiantil Universitaria and then the Unión de Jóvenes Comunistas (UJC). Most recently in 1997 he was First Secretary of the UJC in the province of Ciego de Ávila.

In 1998 he was first second secretary of the UJC, before he finally became first secretary of the youth association on December 6, 2004 as the successor to Otto Rivero . He was one of the mass organizations of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) with around 800,000 members. As such, he was also secretary of the Organization of Democratic Youth (Organización de Juventudes Democráticas).

Martínez was also a member of the National Assembly (Asamblea Nacional del Poder Popular) , where he represented his hometown of Chambas , a member of the PCC Central Committee and was elected to the Council of State on February 24, 2008 .

In October 2009 Martínez was released from the UJC chairmanship, his successor as First Secretary of the National Committee was Liudmila Álamo , who then succeeded him in the Cuban State Council and in the Central Committee of the party. Since leaving the state management level, Martínez has been working in the party administration as a full-time member of the PCC committee of the Havana Province.
