The fountain on a postcard

The Julius Wolff Fountain or Renata Fountain was an ornamental fountain in Hildesheim .

The fountain at the southern end of Sedanstrasse , designed by the sculptor Paul Juckoff , was a reminder of Julius Wolff and his poem Renata, which was set in Hildesheim at the time of the Hildesheim collegiate feud . It was donated by the factory owner Gustav Fränkel , owner of a weaving mill and a sack factory, who was elected mayor in 1916. The city council contributed 1,500 marks for the foundation and the horticultural design. The inauguration took place on 31 July 1911. The Bronze - Statue of Renata was in World War II for military purposes melted . As part of the clean-up work after the end of the war, the rest of the well was also removed.
