Julius Arnold Koch

Julius Arnold Koch (born August 15, 1864 in Bremen , † February 10, 1956 in Pittsburgh ) was a German-American chemist.

Koch studied chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh , the University of Munich and the University of Heidelberg . During a stay with Ludwig Gattermann in Heidelberg, together with Gattermann, he discovered the Gattermann-Koch synthesis, named after both . Koch was the dean of the School of Pharmacy at the University of Pittsburgh from the establishment of the faculty until his retirement in 1932.
