Julius Jia Zhiguo

Julius Jia Zhiguo , 賈志國 主教, (* 1935 ) is a Chinese Roman Catholic Underground - Bishop of the Zhengding Diocese in Hebei Province .

Life

Julius Jia Zhiguo received episcopal ordination in 1980 . Since 1951 he has been arrested, interned or placed under house arrest several times by the Chinese government. He had lived in prisons for almost 20 years and had been under house arrest since December 2007. On August 24, 2008, the last day of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, he was arrested by six government officials at a Sunday service in Wuquiu Cathedral, 270 km south of Beijing, without a reason, and released on September 19, 2008. Jia Zhiguo was arrested again on March 31, 2009 and detained in an unknown location. He was not released until July 14, 2010.

He maintains an orphanage with around 100 handicapped orphans at his bishopric.
