Julius Knorre

Julius Knorre (* 1807 in Königsberg , East Prussia ; † October 22, 1884 ibid) was a German history and genre painter from the Düsseldorf School and teacher at the Königsberg art school and academy .

Knorre, son of the painter Johann Friedrich Andreas Knorre (1763–1841), who was appointed to the Königsberg art school from Berlin, studied painting at the Berlin Art Academy under Karl Wilhelm Wach . In the years 1835 to 1839 he attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy . There were Theodor Hildebrandt and Wilhelm Schadow his teachers. From 1836 he exhibited in Düsseldorf, including his work The Old Town Fountain in Königsberg . After completing his studies, Knorre followed his father into a teaching position, and like him he became professor in the drawing class at the Provincial Art School (later Königsberg Art Academy). As such he was still in office in 1861.
