Julius Leopold Schwabach

Julius Leopold Schwabach (born May 31, 1831 in Breslau , † February 23, 1898 in Berlin ) was a German banker .

Schwabach was related to the banker Gerson von Bleichröder , the most important and richest representative of Jewish high finance in Berlin. He joined the S. Bleichröder bank at the age of 16, became a partner in 1866 and, after Bleichröder's death in 1893, became the bank's senior partner. Through this activity he acquired a considerable fortune, which he used around 1882 to purchase Gut Kerzendorf near Ludwigsfelde .

Like his predecessor and son Paul , he was Otto von Bismarck's personal financial advisor .

Julius Leopold Schwabach rests under a marble tomb in the Jewish cemetery on Schönhauser Allee in Berlin.

His grandchildren (children of son Paul and his wife Elisabeth Eleanor nee Schröder) are Leonie (called Laly or Lally) Horstmann (1898–1955), Vera von der Heydt (1899–1996) and Julius Paul von Schwabach (born 1902) .
