Julius Louven

Julius Louven (born February 18, 1933 in St. Hubert ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and former member of the state and Bundestag.

Career

After attending elementary school, Louven did an apprenticeship as a baker in Hüls from 1947 to 1950 , and then from 1950 to 1952 an apprenticeship as a confectioner. In 1955 he passed the master baker's exam, and two years later the master confectioner exam.

In 1958 Louven joined the CDU. From 1962 to 1970 he was chairman of his community association. Between 1962 and 1969 he was a member of the St. Hubert parish council. From 1964 to 1994 he was a member of the district council, first of the Kempen-Krefeld district and from 1970 of the newly founded Viersen district . After the municipal reorganization in 1970, when St. Hubert became part of the city of Kempen , Julius Louven was elected chairman of the city association of the CDU, which he remained until 1981. From 1981 to 1991 Louven was district chairman of the CDU in the Viersen district. In the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia on May 4, 1975 he was in the constituency 36 Kempen II with almost 54 percent of the vote directly in theNorth Rhine-Westphalian state parliament elected.

In the federal election in 1980, Louven was elected as the successor to Hugo Hammans with 49.4 percent of the vote for the first time in the Viersen constituency in the German Bundestag , to which he belonged until 2002. He was able to achieve this success in the following federal elections in 1983 (56.6%), 1987 (51.2%), 1990 (49.6%), 1994 (49.6%) and 1998 (44.6%) repeat each time. From 1991 to 1998 Julius Louven was the social policy spokesman for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group .

Awards

For his services, Julius Louven was awarded the plaque of honor of the Viersen district and the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class.

Julius Louven is married with three sons and seven grandchildren. He lives with his wife in his home town of St. Hubert.

Louvens father Alfons was mayor of the parish of St. Hubert for the center .
