July Paul (* 6. March 1955 in Munich as Julius Michael Paul ) is a German singer and songwriter.

Life

His father July Paul senior was a drummer and band leader, his mother Iris Schreiber was a model and mannequin.

At the age of five, Julius Paul received piano and flute lessons from a teacher at the Richard Strauss Conservatory . At the age of 14 he formed his first band, The Ace . In 1978 he founded the July Paul Band and began to write his own songs. In 1979 he took on a position as program designer at the Munich production company Polyband , and one year later he became a music producer and A&R manager in this company. In 1980 his debut album July Paul Band - Original 'BAV-Rock' from Munich was released.

In 1981 he signed an exclusive artist contract with Ralph Siegel's Munich record company Jupiter Records . In addition, he has now also composed songs for other artists, such as Nicole and Ingrid Peters , and also wrote the theme music for various cartoon series. In 1982 he left Polyband to devote himself exclusively to his career as a musician. Together with the singer Ingrid Peters, he took second place in the German preliminary round of the Grand Prix de la Chanson (today the Eurovision Song Contest ) with the title Viva la Mamma . The two took the same place with their singing duet in 1983 in the ZDF hit parade . Also in 1983 July came third as lyricist for the Austrian contribution to the Grand Prix de la Chanson.

In 1985 July released his first solo album with Jupiter Records with Scream If You Can . From then on, he was also live with his July Paul Band and featured in German-language television programs. Three singles were released from the album. From 1996 July produced his own songs. In 1998 the single CD I mog Kärnten was released, for which July was responsible as singer, composer, arranger, lyricist and producer. The song landed on the radio station of Antenne Kärnten in the listener hit parade and was sold regionally.

In the winter of 1998 he presented his self-produced album I hab's g'schetzt with only his own compositions and texts. In 1999 he founded the company July Paul Musikproduktion & Entertainment in Carinthia with its own recording studio and label (Goshawk 66 Records). In 2001 the single CD Fahr'n, fahr'n, fahr'n was released. July wrote the lyrics for the new German cover version of the Beach Boys classic Fun Fun Fun and received the rights from the original American publisher. In 2005 he released the concept album Sommer auf'm Berg . With the title song on the CD, July Paul made it into the ORF hit parade of Radio Kärnten in second place.

In 2007 the double album Horizont was released , a best-of album with songs from 1998 to 2007 as well as a few new songs. In 2011 he released the album Neues Leben! , in 2013 the English-language album Best Summer of my Life , a sampler with cover versions of summer and favorite songs from the last five decades of rock and pop music. In 2015 July released his best-of double album Day and Night .

Paul's autobiography was never given up in November 2018 . The moving life story of a musician. as well as the album (double CD) with 33 songs for the book: Don't give up - my life - my songs.
