Jungcheon (* 224 ; † 270 ) was the twelfth ruler of the state of Goguryeo , the northern of the Three Kingdoms of Korea . He was a son of King Dongcheon and ruled from 248 until his death in 270.

Life

Go Yeon-bul was made crown prince in 244 and succeeded his father on the throne after his father's death in 248. In November of that year, his brothers Go Ye-mul and Go Sa-gu conspired against Jungcheon, who then persecuted them and executed them. His queen Yeon murdered his concubine Gwanna in 251 out of jealousy. In 256 Jungcheon made his son Go Yak-ro crown prince.

In 259 the Chinese Wei dynasty led an invading force to Goguryeo under their general Wei Chije. The king met them in the Yangmaek district with a cavalry of 5,000 men and defeated the Wei army, which lost 8,000 men.

Jungcheon died in 270 and was buried in Jungcheonji-won. The Crown Prince Go Yak-ro succeeded him as King Seocheon to the throne.
