It consists of young people who are politically active independently of a "mother party".

history

In 1999, Junge Freiburg took part in the municipal council elections for the first time and won two seats with 3.8 percent of the vote (Claudia Herbstritt and initially Sven Greschbach, from 2002 Florian Braune). In 2004 Junge Freiburg got 4.1 percent and again two seats (Florian Braune and Sebastian Müller). In the municipal council election in June 2009 , Junge Freiburg lost 0.9 percentage points of the vote with a result of 3.2 percent and has since been represented in the town hall by city councilor Simone Ariane Pflaum. After the electoral association was dissolved in 2012 and Simone Ariane Pflaum resigned, Sebastian Müller returned to the local council. Young Freiburg and Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen formed a parliamentary group after the 1999, 2004 and 2009 elections . In 2013 Junge Freiburg was founded again. In the elections in 2014, Junge Freiburg won two seats and Lukas Mörchen and Sergio Schmidt became the new city councilors. Together with the city councils of the Green Alternative Freiburg and The Party (1 mandate each), they formed the “JPG” parliamentary group. In the municipal council election, Young Freiburg received 3.8 percent of the vote, which corresponds to two mandates. Sergio Schmidt and Simon Sumbert thus moved into the Freiburg municipal council.
