information previously Jungle King

Jungle Hunt is an arcade and computer game that was first developed by Taito in 1982 as the Jungle King . It was the first horizontally scrolling action game with platformer and combat elements that also scrolled to the left. See also pitfall! and Super Mario .

Game description

The player controls a jungle hero or Tarzan who has to free a girl from the hands of cannibals . There are four levels .

  • Level 1:

The player must be to the left of Liane shimmy to vine swinging different. The jump distance is limited; he must wait and be careful not to miss it. In addition, there are monkeys swinging on some lianas, which make the player fall when touched.

  • Level 2:

Here the player has to swim through a river. He can avoid crocodiles or kill them with a knife. The diving depth can be varied, if the diving duration is longer he has to surface. There are also air bubbles that allow him to abort.

  • Level 3:

Small and large boulders fall from a hill. The hero must run to the left and either jump or crouch.

  • Level 4:

The girl to be liberated is hanging over a saucepan on the left edge of the screen. The player starts on the right and has to jump to her. In between are the cannibals trying to hit the hero with spears that move them vertically upwards. Finding the right time is quite difficult. If successful, the game starts all over again with a higher degree of difficulty.

Differences from Jungle King

The character in Jungle King is similar to Tarzan. There was also a Tarzan scream at the beginning of the game. In Jungle Hunt , the character wears a pith helmet and jacket. There are also ropes instead of lianas.

Because of a lawsuit by Universal , the critical points were quickly changed and the game was re-released under a different name.
