Junior Kimbrough

Junior Kimbrough (actually David Kimbrough ; born July 28, 1930 in Hudsonville , Mississippi , †  January 17, 1998 in Holly Springs , Mississippi ) was an American blues musician.

Kimbrough lived in northern Mississippi near Holly Springs . From 1992 he recorded for the Fat Possum Blues label . He also played his music in his bar called "Junior's Place" in Chulahoma , which attracted many visitors from all over the world, including members of the band U2 and the Rolling Stones .

Junior Kimbrough died on January 17, 1998 in Holly Springs, Mississippi. After his death, his sons Kinney and David Malone Kimbrough, who are also musicians, ran the bar in Chulahoma before "Junior's Place" burned down on April 6, 2000.

The band The Black Keys , whose members name Kimbrough as one of their main influences, released the EP Chulahoma in his honor in 2006 , which only contains cover versions of Kimbrough's songs.
