Craft juniors

The juniors of the craft are the largest network of young talent organizations in the German craft. The nationwide more than 50 local associations are basically united in regional associations and are represented at the federal level together with young organizations of the trade associations by the Federal Association of Juniors in the Crafts Association, based in Berlin . As part of the craft organization, the juniors of the craft cooperate on various levels with chambers of crafts, professional associations, district craft associations and guilds.

The juniors of the craft have around 2000 members, made up of young master craftsmen and skilled craftsmen aged between 25 and 40 years.

history

In the 1920s, the graduate economist Albert Wilkening (* July 22, 1901, † December 30, 1955) initiated the German young craft movement, which was banned by the NSDAP in 1933. On March 11, 1956, the idea was developed in Marburg to found a joint agency for all groups of young craftspeople in the Federal Republic of Germany. At that time there was the Bavarian, the Northwest German, the Hessian, the Baden-Württemberg, the Bremen and the Schleswig-Holstein Young Crafts Association. In October 1956 the German Young Craftsmen Association was founded in Nuremberg , the first chairman of which was the master locksmith Helmut Schwonberg from Hanover. The organization was later named Bundesverband Junghandwerk and was headed by Rolf Zeeb from 1974 to 1980 before it was renamed to Juniors of the Crafts .

The juniors of the skilled trades pursue the goal of promoting and supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs in the German skilled trades both within and outside the company. They represent the young trade with its entrepreneurs and represent the interests of their members towards institutions and associations from politics, administration, society and business at local, regional, state, federal and European level.

The federal association of juniors of the craft forms together with the business juniors and the federal association of young entrepreneurs BJU the "Young German economy" and is involved in the circle of the young organizations of the German economy for the concerns and interests of young entrepreneurs

Members

Anyone who has successfully passed the journeyman's examination or a qualification comparable to the journeyman's examination in a trade can become a member of the local associations of the juniors of the craft. Membership is also available to anyone who works as a manager in a craft enterprise or who has completed an apprenticeship that entitles them to practice a craft independently. The maximum age is generally 40 years.
