Rolf Ernst Zeeb (born July 15, 1938 in Stuttgart ; † January 3, 2014 there ) was a German entrepreneur and politician ( FDP ).

Life

Rolf Zeeb was born in Stuttgart-Feuerbach . He left school with the secondary school leaving certificate and completed a commercial training as well as an apprenticeship as a carpenter. In 1960 he passed his master carpenter's examination and in 1961 joined the workshop founded by his great-grandfather in 1878, the management of which he took over from his father in 1978. Zeeb was committed to the interests of carpenters as a member of the board of the district craftsmen and the timber trade association as well as deputy state guild master and chairman of the Federation of Self-Employed , District Association of Trade and Trade Associations (BDS) Stuttgart.

In December 2013, he fell while showering while on vacation in the Bregenzerwald and sustained serious head injuries. At his own request, he was transferred from the Feldkirch State Hospital to the Katharinenhospital Stuttgart , where he died on January 3, 2014 of a cerebral haemorrhage.

Zeeb was married and had two children, one of whom has been running ZEEB Innenausbau GmbH as his successor since 1999 . His brother Jürgen Zeeb (* 1950) is the leader of the Free Voters faction in the Stuttgart City Council.

politics

In 1965 Zeeb became a member of the FDP and the Weilimdorf district advisory board . From 1982 to 2009 he was a member of the Stuttgart City Council. There Zeeb was deputy FDP parliamentary group chairman from 1994 to 1999 and chairman of the FDP parliamentary group from 1999 to 2009. Zeeb primarily devoted himself to the topics of urban planning, living, working, transport and the promotion of medium-sized companies. He also represented his parliamentary group on the Sports Committee and the Environment and Technology Committee. In 2009 he no longer ran for election. In addition to his work in local politics, he promoted various associations and campaigned for the common good in Stuttgart.

Awards

In the course of his more than 40 years of voluntary work for the city of Stuttgart, Zeeb has received several awards from the Baden-Württemberg City Association and the BDS Federal Association. In 1980 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his work as regional chairman and later (from 1974 to 1980) as national chairman of the Bundesverband Junghandwerk , the youth organization for young craftsmen . On October 6, 2010, the Lord Mayor of Stuttgart, Wolfgang Schuster, awarded Zeeb the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st Class, for his versatile commitment .
