Juozas Šikšnelis

Juozas Šikšnelis (born March 1, 1950 in Švendubrė near Druskininkai , Lithuanian SSR ) is a Lithuanian writer .

Life

After graduating from secondary school, Šikšnelis was trained as a librarian at the University of Vilnius in Vilnius in 1973 and from 1973 worked in the state library in the Lithuanian port city of Klaipėda . He has been director of this library since 2008 (as of 2018).

The author, who has only one arm, published his first book in 1991 with the short story collection Štilis . Under the pseudonym Raidas Dubrė he brought out detective novels from 1995, which have been his main work since then. It was not until 2000 that a traditional novel from his pen appeared for the first time with Kryžiau žalio medžio (“Cross made of young wood”). For this work he was awarded the Ieva Simonaitytė Literature Prize and the Žemaitė Literature Prize.
