Jurakic belongs to the North Samoyed language group. It was spoken in the Siberian tundra west of the Yenisei and in the Taimyr region east of the Urals . Jurakic represented a dialectal bridge between Enzisch and Nenzisch , but is mostly viewed as a separate language.

Jurassic became extinct in the early 19th century. Not much is known about the language. One of the most important sources are the records of the Finnish linguist Matthias Alexander Castrén from the mid-19th century. The speakers of Jura have completely absorbed the Nenets.
